About Me

Karol Ríos

My name is Karol Ríos, and for as long as I can remember, animals have been a part of my life—though not always under the best circumstances. I was born in Colombia, where, sadly, I witnessed many cases of abuse towards dogs and cats. These images left a deep mark on my soul. They made me cry countless times, but they also lit a fire within me: a desire to change that reality.

I studied veterinary medicine and grooming, and when I arrived in Canada, I did so with the hope of building a better life and continuing to work with what I love most: animals. I started from scratch, humbly, by setting up a small salon in my garage. Little by little, people began to trust me, to recommend me, and to feel that there was something more than just grooming in that space… there was love.
With the help of my husband —who has been my guide, my strength, and my partner in this dream— Scooby Groom was born. It is a place built with dedication, commitment, and, most importantly, heart. Today, Scooby Groom is more than just a grooming shop; it is a space of respect, calm, and emotional well-being for pets —and for their families too.
I deeply understand the fear many of us feel when leaving our dogs in the hands of strangers. I’ve been there myself. I visited many places in Toronto, and it made me anxious not to see what they were doing with my dogs, not to know who was caring for them, not knowing if they were okay. That feeling created anxiety and distrust in me.That’s why, at Scooby Groom, everything is transparent. If you wish, you can observe the entire grooming process of your pet. We have nothing to hide —only a lot to care for.
This project has not only transformed my life, but it has also created meaningful and fulfilling job opportunities for others. I truly believe that working with animals is one of the greatest gifts, and my future vision is for Scooby Groom to donate a percentage of its profits to help abandoned or abused dogs and cats.
